The Catechism on Interior Penance
The beauty of the Catholic Church's call to repentance and ongoing conversion is summed up masterfully in the section of the Catechism on the Sacrament of Reconciliation. My line that I've been preaching recently is, "We were never really taught how to repent, but only how to go to Confession."
My hope is that we ditch the laundry list mentality and go to Confession with contrite hearts. For many Catholics, the Sacrament of Reconciliation has replaced personal repentance. Instead, deep, personal repentance should drive us to the Confessional.
